Sigamos Aprendiendo, or Let’s Keep Learning, is an initiative launched by Mercado Global in recognition of the lack of professional development opportunities available to our majority Indigenous women lead staff.
The program brings in professionals from diverse backgrounds to provide our staff with continued learning opportunities on a monthly basis - allowing our staff the chance to grow both professionally and personally.
Christine Healey de Casanova is an accomplished strategic communications expert with 20+ years of experience. Highly specialized in working with Fortune 500 and 100 companies, nonprofits, and startups to design and deliver learning and training solutions that foster strong communicators, active listeners, and more empathetic leaders.
Mayra is the Founder of Instituto Xilonen, a social enterprise and philanthropic undertaking dedicated to advancing peace, harmony and conscious living through the strategic placement of healing crystals throughout the world. While its reach and effects are global, Xilonen and the collection is headquartered in New York City.
Dr. Aaron Lear is a family and sports medicine physician and has been working with the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital for over 15 years. He has been involved with Mercado Global and our medical education project (Previously called 'More Skills, Less Pills') for over 10 years. He has visited the Mercado Global location in Panajachel annually (except for a couple of Covid years) to work with the artisans and Mercado Global team on improving health education, and self-support skills.
A sunset and taco lover, originally from Tampico, Mexico. She followed her passion for the beach, hotels and the delivery of great service by moving to Playa del Carmen, a Caribbean destination in Mexico where she had her very first experience with a luxury property, Fairmont Mayakoba. Ana learned about creating unique experiences for guests and colleagues. She now lives in Cabo, where she has had the opportunity to work in hotels like Las Ventanas al Paraiso and One&Only Palmilla as a Butler and Concierge. As Concierge I was honored to wear Les Clefs d’Or, a worldwide recognition for very capable concierge staff and a well-connected net providing exceptional service through passion and friendship.
Dr. Kate Conway is a Family Medicine physician at Five Rivers Health Centers in Dayton, Ohio and associate professor at Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. In 2013, she initiated her support to Mercado Global and had the opportunity to visit Guatemala in June 2024. She is excited to continue partnering with our Community-Based Education team to provide health education support for our partner artisans.
