This past Friday, Mercado Global staff and partner artisans packaged and mailed 25,000 conference bags for the 2012 International Conference on HIV/AIDS. The conference will take place in July in Washington DC.
This order, which provided work for 87 indigenous women in rural Guatemala, was made possible by Levi Strauss Foundation and Levi Strauss & Co. This income-earning opportunity was coupled with Mercado Global’s business training program and HIV/AIDS education to have a long-term impact on the communities participating in the conference bag production.
Today, Mercado Global celebrates the women who participated in this order through the partnership of the Levi Strauss Foundation.
